From Art to Engineering to a Co-op at Hasbro!

I just began my six-month Electronics Engineering Co-op with Hasbro in the Applied Technologies department. I will be working with cross-functional project teams and will get to experience the entire development over the course of my time here. Academically, I started my journey at Sheridan College studying Art Fundamentals. After about a year, I discovered my passion for Engineering and made a giant leap to switch programs. I’m now a 3rd year Mechatronics Engineering student from the University of Waterloo in Canada. My program covers Mechanical, Electrical and Software Engineering concepts which I will be directly applying to my work here at Hasbro. The background I gained while studying Art has also helped me to apply my creativity in finding engineering solutions for my projects.

My future responsibilities at Hasbro will primarily involve building, testing, debugging, and demonstrating electronic prototype concepts for products. A lot of what I’ve learned in the past few terms of school, including advanced programming and circuits related courses have applied to my day-to-day responsibilities. It’s very rare to find a co-op placement that will allow you to gain real-world practice that directly relates to your field of study. The Applied Technologies team has been very welcoming to me, offering me flexible opportunities to work on projects for many exciting brands. The next six months for me will be busy, challenging, but extremely rewarding. I am looking forward to my time here at Hasbro!
