Learning from your mistakes

I have been at Hasbro for a little over 2 months now and have learned something new pretty much every day; analyzing problems from different perspectives, managing my meeting/workload balance and taking the initiative to complete a task without my manager’s help. But the one thing my manager and everyone else in the Quality Assurance department helped me to understand is that it is perfectly fine to make mistakes and seek help when you need it. It’s more important to learn how to do something the correct way by reviewing it with others first. So far everyone I have asked help from has helped me and in the friendliest manner possible.

As a college student who has had a couple internships prior, including a previous QA position in a 3D printing startup, I thought I knew how to do the job I have now just by implementing my knowledge into the toy industry. I couldn’t have been more wrong. At Hasbro I learned how even the slightest detail can change the whole product and even the slightest issue with the regulations can impact the product as a whole. At Hasbro I am still making mistakes so I can learn from them and apply that knowledge into the bigger picture, so I won’t repeat them, which is what I call success at the end of the day.
