Hasbro has earned an incredible reputation by bringing innovative play and entertainment experiences to children around the world. However, only the employees of Hasbro see the unique individuals and teams that really set this company above the rest.
I have been lucky enough to be the Customer Strategic Marketing intern for one of Hasbro’s large accounts this summer. Of course, my team has taught me the ins and outs about the brands at Hasbro and how to work within the team; however, the real take away I have gained from my team is the importance of exploring my interests.
One of my favorite parts about Hasbro is that everyone who works here is eager to help others learn. My team showed me the significance in learning all parts of the business by taking the time to meet with me and describe in detail what each of them do. I was able to not only learn about marketing, but also explore other areas I had not focused on before. My manager encouraged me to set up meetings with people outside of my team as well. She took the time to hear my interests and lead me in the direction towards people who might have meaningful experiences to share with me. I truly feel that this allowed me to get the most out of my internship as possible.
I recommend that all interns jump outside of their comfort zones and set up meetings with others to learn about areas that are of interest to them. This is the time that allows us to get a taste of what we like and dislike before committing to a fulltime job. Luckily, my team was able to provide me with meaningful opportunities that helped me get a better idea of what I want to do in the future.
